IFC is co-supervising “London Carnival” in Busan BEXCO.
IFC and the members are happy to co-supervise and proud of the very first cultural festival in
the history with the name of “London Carnival comes to Busan”
The London Carnival that is opening for 62 days from December 20th in Busan BEXCO has a big meaning
of meeting Korean and British culture and the world, as a cultural Olympic.
IFC will make the London Carnival a “place of communication and harmony” that everyone can
enjoy with each other. Also IFC will globalize Korean culture one step closer to the world by
exchanging culture with Britain. IFC is proud that this event is helping revitalize local
economy and create the new culture IFC is not only preparing with trust that it will be a
historical event but also trying the best effort for all progress without any missing point.
Moreover, IFC is working up other events supervising and to make the London Carnival a
great experience of fam tours in Japan, China and Vietnam.
All staffs preparing this carnival hope that by meeting Korean and British culture and the world,
it makes our children and all the people realize what to accept and not rather than shallow
education like just listening and learning from foreigners, and rather than being evaluated shallowly
by the size, kind, number of participants, costs, etc.
We have no doubt that the best Korean ancestor is King Sejong. So as Hangeul does. Like this,
British people love their ancient literature of Shakespeare. As result, English became the world
language by loving his literary works and even the language. Experiencing at Busan BEXCO from
Shakespeare to Beatles, we have to rethink if we are using Hangeul properly and how beautiful it is.
Please keep in mind that the purpose of opening the London Carnival is for this.
At last, we hope the London Carnival makes Busan citizen and many participants reach their
personal purpose and it becomes a great remembrance with safety.

클럽이 부산벡스코에서 개최하는 런던카니발을 공동으로 주관합니다.
“런던카니발 부산상륙”이란 이름의 문화 축제가 역사상 처음으로 부산에서 열리게 됨을 클럽과 우리 회원 모두는 함께 기뻐하며 클럽이 이 행사의 주관으로서 이를 알리게 됨을 자랑스럽게 생각합니다.
이번에 부산 벡스코에서 12월 20일 부터 장장 62일간의 대장정으로 열리게 되는 런던카니발은 문화올림픽으로서 우리의 문화와 영국문화, 그리고 세계의 만남에서 그 큰 의미를 찾게 될 것입니다.
런던카니발에서는 누구나 즐기면서 함께 참여하고 함께 만들어 가는 “소통과 화합의 장”을 마련해 드리려고 하며 영국문화와의 교류를 통해서 세계의 그릇에 우리의 문화를 담아낸다는 점에서 세계화에 한걸음 더 다가서게 하고 신문화 창조에 이바지하며 지역경제 활성화에도 크게 보탬을 주게 되는 일이라는 점에서 우리 모두는 자랑스럽게 생각하고 있으며 향후 이번 행사의 기록들이 역사에 오래도록 남을 것으로 믿고 준비에서 뿐만 아니라 진행에도 한 치의 어긋남이 없도록 열심을 바칠 다짐을 하고 있습니다. 더군다나 이번 행사 이후에 전국의 순차적인 개최와 일본 및 중국, 베트남 등 아시아 투어에서 부산 개최의 경험이 좋은 모델이 되도록 노력을 바칠 것입니다.
이번 행사를 준비하고 있는 관계자들은 런던카니발의 진정한 의미가 겉 치례의 행사규모나 행사종류, 동원된 참가인원, 예산의 규모 등의 내용으로 평가 받기 보다는 우리문화와 영국문화 그리고 세계의 만남을 통해서 이 시대를 함께 살아가는 우리들, 특히 자라나는 어린이들이 외국인들로부터 듣고 배우는 피상적인 교육에 머무르지 말고 무엇을 받아 들이고 버려야 할 것이 무엇인지도 깨닫게 되기를 소망합니다.
우리들은 우리 조상들 중에서 훌륭한 분으로 세종대왕을 꼽는 데에는 서로 의견이 없습니다. 그리고 한글의 우수성에 대해 서도 의심치 않습니다. 마찬가지로 영국민들 또한 문호 셰익스피어를 사랑하고 그의 고전을 찬양하는 데에 인색함이 전혀 없습니다. 그 결과는 영어로 쓰여진 그의 많은 고전만을 사랑하는 것이 아니라 영어라는 언어까지 사랑함으로써 영어는 이제 세계어로 통용되기 까지 자리매김하고 있습니다. 부산 벡스코의 체험실습장에서 셰익스피어에서 비틀즈까지를 만나볼 때에 우리들은 우리 한글이 진정 아름답게 다듬어지고 있는지도 살펴봐야 할 것입니다. 벡스코를 찾는 까닭이 런던카니발의 개최의 의미가 바로 여기에 있음을 되새겨 주시기를 바랍니다.
끝으로 런던카니발의 이번 행사가 우리 클럽과 부산 시민뿐만 아니라 많은 행사 참가자들의 성원으로 소기의 목적을 거두게 되기를 바라며 안전을 유지한 가운데 즐거운 행사가 되기를 빕니다.
